Late last year, when her stepson began planning for his Bar Mitzvah, Kirstin T. began creating and planning for the beautiful vestments and pieces that he would need. With the help of a friend, she started designing the atarah with inspiration from quilt fabric. The fabric lead to the selection of coordinating silks to stitch the canvas that created the neck shawl piece as well as the matching yarmulke and tallis. The needlepointed atarah was expertly inset onto a white quilted fabric with pieced jewel-like colors at either end of the shawl. The yarmulke and the atarah were finished in time for the Bar mitzvah celebration. Kirstin continues to stitch on the tallis bag and we will be sure to highlight that creation upon completion!
